• Robin van Persie's son Shaqueel looks primed to follow in his father's footsteps after the two posed together in matching Fernebahce tracksuits.

The former Manchester United striker's wife Bouchra posted the image to her official Instagram account with the caption 'RvP & SvP' in reference to her husband's footballing nickname. 
It's safe to say the nine-year-old, who also has aspirations of making his own career in football, is the spitting image of his old man.

And the matching outfits are by no means purely sentimental as Shaqueel, who was once on the books at Manchester City, is now a member of Fenerbahce's academy.

Fans may want to watch out for the son of the Dutch forward in the future after he impressed with his football skills at his father's signing ceremony in front of 18,000 supporters at the Sukru Saracoglu stadium last summer.

Van Persie has struggled since swapping England for Turkey and the 32-year-old was dealt another blow this week after Netherlands coach Danny Blind left him out of his squad ahead of the friendlies against France and England.
