- Diego Costa could still face ban over his behaviour at Everton on Saturday
- Costa will be scrutinised by the FA for allegedly biting Gareth Barry
- Everton's Barry said he had not been bitten but the FA will still investigate
- It happened during Chelsea 2-0 defeat by Everton in FA Cup quarter-final
Diego Costa could still face two FA disciplinary charges after he escaped action for attempting to bite Gareth Barry.
The Chelsea striker forced his head into Barry’s face twice during a coming together with the Everton midfielder then looked to bite him on the neck before the incident was defused and the pair ended up cuddling.
The Football Association contacted Everton after Saturday’s game for their observations over the incident. Everton reported that Barry said he had not been bitten and, with that being the case, the FA will take no further action.

But Costa, who is already facing a one-match ban for the first red card of his career in England, will be scrutinised by the FA for the furious way he reacted to being sent off and his behaviour when he eventually left the pitch. If found guilty, he will be suspended for one game.
It is also understood the FA are studying footage to see whether Costa has a case to answer for allegations that he made an inappropriate gesture to the Goodison Park crowd. Again, if the FA find that to be the case, the punishment is another one-game suspension.
Costa was actually Chelsea’s best player before his emotions combusted in the 2-0 FA Cup quarter-final defeat and Guus Hiddink, Chelsea’s interim manager, is aware that the Spain international now has a reputation that precedes him.
