Douglas Costa: Neymar, Willian and I work well together for Brazil

  • The Bayern Munich star has insisted coach Dunga has no reason to change the attacking trio and believes he has improved under Pep Guardiola's guidance this season
Douglas Costa has hailed his blossoming relationship with Willian and Neymar, insisting Brazil coach Dunga has no reason to change a winning formula.

The Bayern Munich man turned in arguably his best performance for the Selecao in November’s 3-0 victory Peru, operating wide left behind false no.9 Neymar and Chelsea star Willian, who played from the right.

And Costa is hoping for more of the same when Brazil host Uruguay in Recife on Friday.
"In the last match it worked well with the three of us playing with increased freedom, it doesn't need to change. You don't need to change something if it is working,” Douglas Costa told a press conference at the Granja Comary training complex.

Costa went on to hail his club coach Pep Guardiola, the Brazilian citing Bayern’s Champions League comeback against Juventus earlier this month as an example of the sharp attacking thrust he has offered the German champions all season.

“In that situation [2-0 down to Juve], Bayern needed to save the situation. Guardiola knows he can count on me,” Costa said.

“A player is called (to the national team) due to what he is doing with his club. I've done a good job at Bayern, with Guardiola, and I have evolved a lot tactically.

"Talking about Pep is hard, he is just a genius. He tries to change things when we need to and it works. He is something else."
