- The midfielder has been out of first team action since June but the manager says he is set to return at the weekend, meaning he could be in the frame for Euro 2016
Arsene Wenger has revealed Jack Wilshere is in line for a long-awaited Arsenal return when the Gunners face Sunderland on Sunday.
The England international has been out of action since June but has featured for the club's reserves and has been training well in recent weeks, though will not make the upcoming clash against West Brom.
The 24-year-old has been tipped to make the England squad for Euro 2016 by manager Roy Hodgson despite his recurring fitness issues and long term absence.
And the midfielder is set to boost his chances, as Wenger says he is returning to fitness and is ready to play again.
"Wilshere is available from the next game [Sunderland] onwards," Wenger told the press. "He has absorbed his first obstacle well - he was sharper in every game and has a good fitness basis.
"Everyone from our last game against Palace is available.”
Arsenal have been without star attacker Santi Cazorla since the end of November, with the Spaniard struggling with a knee injury and Wenger has confirmed that he has returned to full training, though it is not yet known when he will be available for selection.
Before Sunday's match, the Gunners face West Brom at the Emirates on Thursday but could be set for their lowest attendance since they moved to the stadium as thousands of tickets remain unsold, and Wenger insists his players cannot be affected by it.
"I want our fans to be happy when they’re not, it affects me," he added. "We don’t want a negative environment but we must still perform."
