- The city's mayor wants to commemorate Claudio Ranieri and the Premier League leaders' players by renaming roads should they win the title this season
The mayor of Leicester wants to commemorate Claudio Ranieri and his players by renaming the city's streets after them if they win the Premier League title this season.
Leicester have shocked the football world by opening up a seven-point lead at the top of the table with just six matches remaining, and Sir Peter Soulsby is determined to recognise their achievements.
"Leicester has honoured its sporting stars in the past," he said. "There is an area named after golfers and there is also a Lineker Road.
"It has been a real team effort, so as well as Vardy Vale we would need to have Schmeichel Street, Drinkwater Drive and Ranieri Road."
If the Foxes' players weren't motivated enough already, the prospect of having a road named after them should act as a terrific incentive to remain on top.
