The Golden State Warriors went from zero-to-60 faster than any team in NBA history.
Stephen Curry scored 27 points on his 28th birthday as the Warriors extended their NBA-record home-winning streak to 49 with a 125-107 victory over theNew Orleans Pelicans on Monday.
In their 66th game this season, the Warriors became the fastest team in NBA history to reach 60 wins. According to ESPN’s Basketball Power Index, the Warriors have a 45 percent chance of winning 73 games this season and breaking the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls’ all-time mark.
Happy Birthday, Steph!
Despite sitting out the entire fourth quarter, Curry still tied a career high for points on his birthday (fourth time playing on his birthday). He also scored 27 points in 2014 against the Cavaliers.
His birthday wish might be to play the Pelicans more often. Curry averaged 40 points per game in three contests against New Orleans this season.
Curry scored 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting in the third quarter. The five made field goals was the same as the entire Pelicans team on 27 attempts in the period.
Curry went 4-of-9 from the arc, extending his NBA record streak of at least one made 3-pointer in a game to 136. And teammate Andrew Bogut showed off his long-range shooting as well, making his first 3-pointer since March 8, 2013.
